St. Thomas Health Centre is proudly owned and operated by the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood, a Pontifical Religious Congregation rooted in faith, service, and compassion. Founded in 1885 by Abbot Francis Pfanner in South Africa, the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood are a non-profit and non-political religious community dedicated to healing and uplifting lives through spiritual and humanitarian work. Their mission quickly expanded beyond South Africa, reaching East Africa in 1898, just thirteen years after their foundation. The sisters arrived in Gare, Tanzania, with hearts ready to serve and a vision to help establish the Kingdom of God—a kingdom without boundaries. Today, their legacy lives on through institutions like St. Thomas Health Centre, where their unwavering commitment to life, dignity, and service continues to transform communities across Morogoro Region and beyond.
